Reyee Networking for CCTV: The Complete UK Buyer's Guide 2026

Reyee networking for CCTV UK buyer's guide 2026

Reyee is Ruijie Networks' installer-friendly networking range, and this guide is the complete UK buyer's reference for building CCTV-ready networks with it. If you install Hikvision or HiLook cameras and you are tired of mixing switch brands, juggling licences and guessing PoE budgets, this pillar walks the whole Reyee portfolio — RG-ES and RG-NBS switches, RG-NIS industrial switches, RG-EG routers, RG-RAP Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 access points and RG-EST wireless bridges — with real model numbers, real specs and reference builds you can quote from today.

What this guide covers

  • The full Reyee product map for CCTV installers: switches, routers, Wi-Fi and bridges
  • RG-ES vs RG-NBS vs RG-NIS switch families — which tier each job needs
  • PoE budget sizing for camera counts from 4 to 48
  • Wi-Fi 6 (RG-RAP2260) vs Wi-Fi 7 (RG-RAP73Pro) for sites that also need wireless
  • Free Ruijie Cloud management — every device in one portal, no licence fees
  • Three copy-ready reference builds with SKUs stocked in Leicester at netviewcctv.co.uk

What is Reyee networking?

Reyee is the SMB-focused product family from Ruijie Networks, built for exactly the small and mid-size commercial sites UK CCTV installers work on every week. The range covers unmanaged and smart PoE switches (RG-ES), Layer 2 and Layer 2+ cloud-managed switches (RG-NBS), DIN-rail industrial switches (RG-NIS), multi-WAN routers and gateways (RG-EG), indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi 6/7 access points (RG-RAP) and pre-paired point-to-point wireless bridges (RG-EST). Every cloud-manageable Reyee device enrols into Ruijie Cloud, whose basic features Ruijie provides free for the life of the device — a genuine differentiator against per-AP subscription platforms. Netview is an authorised UK Ruijie/Reyee wholesaler, holding stock of the fast-moving lines in Leicester for same-day dispatch.

Why standardise CCTV sites on Reyee?

Standardising on one network brand cuts callbacks, because the switch, router, access point and bridge all appear in one cloud topology with one support path. For CCTV work specifically, Reyee earns its place three ways. First, PoE is sized realistically — even the five-port RG-EG105G-P-V3 router powers four cameras directly. Second, the smart RG-ES switches expose CCTV-relevant toggles (port isolation, extended-range mode for long cable runs) from a phone app. Third, the whole estate — gateway, switches, APs and bridges — self-draws its network topology in Ruijie Cloud, so remote diagnosis happens before a van rolls. Our Reyee Cloud multi-site guide covers that workflow in depth.

Reyee CCTV network reference architecture three site sizes

Unmanaged and smart switches: the RG-ES series

The RG-ES series is the fastest way to put PoE cameras on a small site, because the smart models configure from the Reyee app with no CLI at all. The six-port RG-ES206GC-P gives you four PoE+ camera ports plus two uplinks for a typical shop or house install, while the ten-port RG-ES210GS-P adds an SFP combo uplink for a fibre run back to the recorder. Smart ES models support extended-range mode for cable runs beyond the usual 100 m ceiling at 10 Mbps — useful on stretched driveways — and per-port isolation to keep camera traffic away from tills and office PCs. Our RG-ES switch guide walks the full line-up model by model.

Managed switches: the RG-NBS series

Step up to RG-NBS when the job needs VLANs, bigger PoE budgets or a 19-inch rack. The desktop RG-NBS3100-8GT2SFP-P-V2 carries 8 Gigabit PoE+ ports, 2 SFP uplinks and a 125 W PoE budget, while the rack-mount RG-NBS3100-24GT4SFP-P-V2 lifts that to 24 PoE+ ports, 4 SFP uplinks and a 370 W budget at up to 30 W per port (Ruijie NBS3100 series specifications). Where the head end aggregates several PoE switches or needs static routing between camera and office VLANs, the L2+ RG-NBS5200-24GT4XS-P adds four 10G SFP+ uplinks. Full family breakdown in our RG-NBS managed switch guide.

Industrial switches: the RG-NIS series

RG-NIS is the answer when the switch lives in an outdoor cabinet rather than a comms room. The RG-NIS2100-8GT2SFP-HP is a DIN-rail, fanless unit rated for −40°C to +75°C operation with IP40 ingress protection and 6 kV surge protection on its ports — specs Ruijie publishes on the NIS2100 datasheet page. One PoE++ port (for a PTZ or ANPR camera) sits alongside seven PoE+ ports and two SFP sockets for fibre in and out of the cabinet. For barrier, gatehouse and car-park camera work this is the family to quote; the full range, including the higher-spec RG-NIS3100 units, is covered in our industrial PoE switch guide.

Routers and gateways: the RG-EG series

An RG-EG gateway gives a CCTV site its edge: multi-WAN failover so remote viewing survives a broadband drop, VPN for engineer access, and on the P models PoE output that can power cameras or APs directly. The compact RG-EG105G-P-V3 is a five-port Gigabit router with four PoE+ ports, a 54 W budget, dual-WAN support and roughly 100-client capacity (Ruijie EG105G-P-V3 specifications) — genuinely a one-box network for a four-camera site. Mid-size offices step up to the ten-port RG-EG310GH-P-E, which offers eight PoE+ LAN ports, up to four WAN links and a recommended 300 concurrent clients (Ruijie EG310GH-P-E specifications). Model-by-model detail lives in our EG series gateway guide.

Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 access points: the RG-RAP series

Most commercial CCTV quotes now include client Wi-Fi, and the RG-RAP family lets you supply it from the same cloud account. The workhorse RG-RAP2260 is a Wi-Fi 6 AX3000 ceiling AP with a 2.5 GbE PoE+ uplink and 512-client maximum capacity, powered by 802.3at at 18 W (Ruijie RAP2260 specifications). Outdoors, the IP-rated RG-RAP62-OD carries AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 into yards and beer gardens. At the top, the tri-band Wi-Fi 7 RG-RAP73PRO reaches 13.346 Gbps across 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz with a 10G SFP+ optical uplink, 320 MHz channels, 4K-QAM and MLO (Ruijie RAP73Pro specifications). The table below picks the right AP per site type.

Wireless bridges: the RG-EST series

Where trenching is impossible, an RG-EST bridge carries camera traffic over the air with no configuration at all, because the pair ships pre-paired from the factory. The RG-EST310-V2 kit runs 802.11ac on 5 GHz at up to 867 Mbps over roughly 1 km line-of-sight, with twin 10 dBi directional antennas, an IP54 shell and −30°C to +55°C tolerance (Ruijie EST310 V2 specifications). That comfortably backhauls a gate camera, barn cluster or car-park pole running three or four 4 MP streams. Longer shots and multi-point layouts are covered in our EST and AirMetro bridge guide.

Ruijie Cloud and the Reyee app: free management

Ruijie Cloud is the reason a Reyee estate is cheap to run: basic cloud management is free for the life of every supported device, with no per-AP or per-switch subscription (Ruijie Cloud service page). Devices enrol by scanning a QR code in the Ruijie Reyee app; the platform then draws the live topology — gateway, switches, APs, bridges and attached cameras — and alerts you when a PoE port drops. For an installer running dozens of customer sites, the project-per-customer structure means one login shows every estate you maintain, and remote WebUI tunnelling means most faults are diagnosed without a site visit.

How to design a Reyee CCTV network

Design comes down to six repeatable steps: count the powered devices, add PoE headroom, choose the switch tier, pick the gateway, layer Wi-Fi, then enrol everything in the cloud. On PoE sizing, work on real draw — a typical Hikvision 4 MP turret pulls 6–8 W, an IR bullet 10–12 W and a PTZ 20–60 W — then keep at least 30% headroom for IR night load and cold starts. A 125 W budget on the RG-NBS3100-8GT2SFP-P-V2 therefore runs eight fixed cameras with margin, while a 370 W 24-port unit shoulders a PTZ-heavy mixed estate. VLAN the cameras away from client traffic at the NBS tier, and give the NVR and gateway static addresses in the camera VLAN. Our PoE switch sizing guide shows worked examples for 8, 16 and 24-camera sites.

Where Reyee fits alongside Hikvision kit

Reyee handles the transport layer while Hikvision and HiLook handle the imaging, and the two pair cleanly because everything speaks standard 802.3af/at PoE and TCP/IP. Cameras and NVRs sit in a camera VLAN behind an RG-NBS switch; Hik-Connect traffic rides the RG-EG gateway's WAN policies; and remote sites reach the recorder over an EST bridge instead of 4G routers with data contracts. There is no licensing interaction to manage — Ruijie Cloud looks after network health while iVMS-4200 or Hik-Connect looks after video. Frequently asked questions

Is Ruijie Cloud really free?
Yes — Ruijie provides the basic cloud-management feature set free for the life of all supported Reyee devices, with advanced features reserved as potentially chargeable later (Ruijie Cloud page).

What is the difference between Ruijie and Reyee?
Ruijie Networks is the manufacturer; Reyee is its SMB-focused sub-brand. The kit sold for UK installer projects — RG-ES, RG-NBS, RG-NIS, RG-EG, RG-RAP, RG-EST — sits under the Reyee umbrella and shares the same cloud.

Which Reyee switch should I use for 8 cameras?
The RG-NBS3100-8GT2SFP-P-V2 with its 125 W budget is the standard pick; choose the smart RG-ES210GS-P where budget is tighter and VLANs are not needed.

Can Reyee switches power PTZ cameras?
Yes. Any PoE+ port delivers up to 30 W, and the RG-NIS2100-8GT2SFP-HP adds a PoE++ port for higher-draw PTZ and ANPR units.

How far can a Reyee wireless bridge reach?
The RG-EST310-V2 is rated to about 1 km line-of-sight at up to 867 Mbps; longer-range EST and AirMetro models extend multi-kilometre links.

Do I need a Reyee router to use Reyee switches?
No — NBS and ES switches work behind any router. You do get the full self-drawn topology, WAN failover policies and one-portal management when an RG-EG gateway fronts the site.

Does Reyee support VLANs for separating CCTV traffic?
Yes — RG-NBS (L2/L2+) and RG-NIS switches support 802.1Q VLANs, and the RG-EG gateways route between them, which is the recommended way to keep camera traffic off the client network.

Is Reyee kit suitable for outdoor cabinets?
Use the RG-NIS industrial family outdoors: DIN-rail mount, fanless aluminium shells, −40°C to +75°C rating, IP40 protection and 6 kV surge immunity are designed for exactly that duty.
