Junction boxes: the everyday workhorse

A junction box is a shallow base that sits between the wall and a turret or dome so the cable can enter from the side or from behind and stay sealed. The DS-1280ZJ-DM21 is built for the DS-2CD2346G1 and DS-2CD2347G1 turrets, is made from sprayed aluminium alloy, and offers side and bottom cable entry, with the bottom waterproof cover and the side gland nut interchangeable, according to Mayflex's product listing. For the newer G2 ColorVu turrets, the DS-1280ZJ-PT6 is listed for the DS-2CD2346G2-ISU/SL and DS-2CD2347G2-LSU/SL, and measures Ø137 mm by 42 mm at 280 g, according to Linovision's specification.

Where a larger dome needs more room for the cable tail and connector, step up to the DS-1280ZJ-S in white or the black version. Hikvision's datasheet gives 171.7 mm by 137 mm by 54 mm, about 660 g and a maximum load of about 3 kg for the black variant (Hikvision DS-1280ZJ-S-Y(Black) datasheet). For uneven brickwork or when you need to bury a thicker cable, the DS-1280ZJ-TR13 deep base gives extra depth, and the DS-1260ZJ is the classic junction box bracket for older dome cameras.

Wall brackets: standing the camera off the building

A wall bracket moves the camera away from the fabric so the lens clears gutters, fascias and soffits, and it gives you an adjustment arm for aiming. The DS-1273ZJ-130 and its TRL variant are the standard choice for dome cameras. Pole and corner mounts for columns and building edges

Stainless steel pole and corner mounts solve the two hardest fixing problems in exterior CCTV: round columns and external corners. The DS-1275ZJ-SUS pole mount is one-piece stainless steel with surface spray treatment, weighs about 1 kg and takes poles from 67 mm to 127 mm in diameter, according to NetCamCenter's specification. Its companion, the DS-1276ZJ-SUS corner mount, is the same one-piece stainless build at about 1 kg and is designed to widen a camera's field of view when it sits on a building corner (NetCamCenter's specification). Both are listed against the G2 Pro bullet and dome families such as the DS-2CD3046G2 and DS-2CD3146G2 series.

In coastal or industrial locations where salt or chemicals attack ordinary finishes, the DS-1284ZJ-M-AC stainless steel anti-corrosion junction box is the sensible step up from the standard aluminium boxes.

Pendant, ceiling and rain shade options

Pendant mounts hang a dome below a canopy or beam, and inclined ceiling mounts angle it towards the area of interest. The DS-1271ZJ-130 pendant mount covers the classic drop-down position, the DS-1259ZJ inclined ceiling mount suits sloping soffits, and the DS-1297ZJ expandable ceiling mount extends between 1.2 m and 2 m, which is useful in warehouses and stairwells with high ceilings. On sunlit or rain-exposed elevations, a DS-1250ZJ rain shade bracket keeps water off the dome and reduces glare on the lens.

How to match a bracket to a camera

The reliable rule is to check the accessories table on the camera's own datasheet, because compatibility follows the camera housing rather than the marketing series. Three quick steps prevent most mismatches:

Note the full camera model, including the generation suffix, for example G1 versus G2, because the housing changes between generations.
Read the accessories or mounting section of that model's datasheet on Hikvision's site and copy the bracket part numbers.
Check the colour code on the bracket part number: the suffix tells you white, black or grey, so the mount matches the camera finish.

Installation tips that save call-backs

Most bracket-related failures are water ingress and loose fixings, both avoidable at install stage. Seal the cable entry on the side or bottom port so it faces downwards, and fit the gland nut fully rather than leaving it hand-tight.
