How to Configure a Hikvision G3 IP Camera

How to Configure 2XX7G3 (LI/SL/2U) Camera Based on H13 Platform

This guide covers the key configuration options for the Hikvision 2XX7G3 series cameras (LI, SL, and 2U variants) running on the H13 platform. These cameras introduce several new features and interface changes compared to older models, including dual-Mic audio, smart hybrid lighting with configurable duration, Auto-WDR, EIS, rotate mode in perimeter mode, and image calibration.

1. Audio Configuration

Configuration > Video/Audio > Audio

Unlike older cameras’ two-way audio function, the new dual-Mic two-way camera supports volume adjustment during two-way audio. The volume adjustment interface has been moved from the linkage configuration interface to the Video/Audio > Audio interface.

Setting Default Value
Input Volume 50
Output Volume 100
Environmental Noise Filtering (Dual-Mic) Enabled
What’s new: The dual-Mic Environmental Noise Filtering feature is enabled by default, providing clearer audio by reducing background noise during two-way communication.

2. Smart Hybrid Light Configuration

Configuration > Image > Display Settings > Supplement Light

The default Supplement Light Mode is White Light. After switching to Smart mode, the 2XX7G3 smart hybrid camera introduces a new configurable feature compared to older smart hybrid cameras: the white light supplement light on duration can be set between 10–300 seconds, with a default of 60 seconds.

Setting Default Value Range
Supplement Light Mode White Light White Light / Smart
White Light Duration (Smart mode) 60 seconds 10–300 seconds
Light Brightness Control Auto Auto / Manual
Tip: In Smart mode, the camera will automatically switch between IR and white light based on motion detection events. The duration setting controls how long the white light stays on after being triggered.

3. Image Settings

3.1 WDR (Wide Dynamic Range)

Configuration > Image > Display Settings > Back light

The 2XX7G3 camera supports Auto-WDR, with the default backlight mode set to Auto-WDR and a default level of 50. In this mode, the camera will automatically turn WDR on or off based on changes in scene lighting and other factors.

Setting Default Value
Backlight Mode Auto-WDR
WDR Level 50
Note: Auto-WDR intelligently enables or disables WDR processing depending on the scene. In well-lit environments with even lighting, WDR will turn off automatically. In high-contrast scenes (e.g. a bright window behind a subject), WDR will engage to balance the exposure.

3.2 EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation)

Configuration > Image > Display Settings > Image Stabilization

The 2XX7G3 camera supports EIS electronic image stabilisation, which is turned off by default. When the camera installation environment experiences shaking due to external factors (such as wind or vibration), EIS can be turned on to improve image quality and reduce motion blur.

Setting Default Value
EIS Off
Tip: Only enable EIS when needed, as it may slightly crop the field of view to allow for stabilisation processing.

3.3 Rotate Mode and Image Calibration

Configuration > Image > Display Settings > Video Adjustment

Rotate Mode

The 2XX7G3 camera supports rotate mode, which is turned off by default. Unlike older models such as the G5 platform—which require switching to normal monitoring mode to support rotate mode—the 2XX7G3 camera still supports rotate mode in perimeter mode. This is a significant improvement for corridor-view installations where smart event detection is also needed.

Image Calibration

The fixed-focus 2XX7G3 camera supports image calibration, which is turned off by default. If your scene requires image calibration, use the following recommended levels based on lens focal length:

Lens Focal Length Recommended Calibration Level
4mm Level 1
2.8mm Level 2
2mm Level 3
Note: These are recommended starting points. Specific adjustments can be made according to your actual installation scenario and scene requirements. Wider-angle lenses (shorter focal lengths) typically require higher calibration levels to correct barrel distortion.
