Summary — what this guide covers

  • Headline new features in JVSG IPVSDT 2026 (build 2455, April 2026)
  • Why the layered DWG export and rebuilt Word/LibreOffice output matter on real UK installs
  • Edition comparison: Basic, Pro, Expert and Enterprise
  • How to buy the licence in GBP from Netview — the UK’s main JVSG reseller

What is the JVSG IP Video System Design Tool?

The JVSG IP Video System Design Tool (IPVSDT) is the industry-standard 3D CCTV design and planning application used by ADT, AXIS, Bosch, Dahua, Hanwha, Hikvision, Honeywell, Sony, Mott MacDonald, WSP and 15,000+ other companies worldwide. It does five jobs: 2D and 3D site planning, lens and pixel-density calculations, DORI zone visualisation to EN 62676-4, bandwidth and storage estimation, and cable layout. Output goes straight into client proposals as PDF, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ODT or AutoCAD DWG/DXF. The 2026 release is the latest major build, with a vendor-agnostic camera database that has now passed 20,750 models.

What’s new in JVSG 2026

Version 2026 reached general release on 19 March 2026 (build 2449), with a follow-up build 2455 published 20 April 2026. Compared to the 2025 line, the headline changes are:

  • Layered AutoCAD DWG export. Cameras, cabling, walls, obstacles and DORI zones now land on separate CAD layers, so architects and M&E consultants can switch elements on and off without picking apart a flattened drawing.
  • Higher-precision coverage zones. DORI fans are trimmed against walls and obstacles much more cleanly — client drawings no longer show camera coverage spilling through brickwork.
  • Camera zones cut off by large obstacles. Trucks, buses, trains, shelves and cabinets now correctly block view in the simulation.
  • New 3D models. Customisable bookcase, stacks and shelves, plus pallet, sailboat and yacht models for warehouse, logistics and marine sites.
  • Faster on large projects. Performance accelerated for multi-floor and 100+ camera designs — where the 2025 build noticeably slowed.
  • Improved Word and LibreOffice export. DOCX and ODT generation rebuilt — tables, images and DORI legends survive cleanly so proposals print right first time.
  • Improved AutoCAD import. Newer AutoCAD DWG/DWF versions are now supported, which matters when an architect sends you a 2024- or 2025-format floor plan.
  • Apple Silicon Mac compatibility via Parallels Desktop 17/18/19/20/26 on M-series Macs.
  • Camera database now 20,750+ models, including the latest Hikvision, HiLook and Reyee models we stock.
  • Licence keys carry over. Keys purchased in 2025 or 2026 activate version 2026 directly — no re-purchase needed.

The six changes from the 2025 cycle most installers will feel on the next job.

Why these changes matter on a real install

The layered DWG export is the biggest practical win. On a typical retail or commercial job the architect’s package is a layered AutoCAD drawing — if your CCTV layer doesn’t match that convention, the M&E coordinator strips it out and you spend your evening redrawing in something else. JVSG 2026 hands back a CAD-ready layered file and keeps you in the project.

The sharper coverage trimming and obstacle-blocking solve a different problem: arguments. Showing a security manager that camera coverage visibly stops at a partition wall — not bleeds through it — is the difference between sign-off and a redesign request. The Word/LibreOffice rebuild is the unsexy but valuable change — proposals that print correctly first time save hours per quote.

Choose the right edition

JVSG ships in four editions. Pick by the size of your typical job, not your largest — you can always upgrade.

JVSG 2026 edition comparison table - Basic, Pro, Expert and Enterprise capabilities
Edition comparison — AutoCAD round-trip and ANPR zones unlock at Pro; the extra 3D model library is Expert-only.
  • Basic — up to 16 cameras per project. Good for domestic and small-commercial designers who don’t need DWG round-trip.
  • Pro — up to 64 cameras per project. The right pick for the typical UK installer running multiple commercial sites a year. Adds AutoCAD DWG/DXF import and export, ANPR/face-recognition zones, fisheye 3D simulation and user 3D model import. Available as 1, 5 (Group) or 10-user (Division) licences.
  • Expert — up to 256 cameras per project, plus the extra 3D model library. Aimed at integrators bidding on warehouse, retail multi-store, transport or city-centre projects. Available as 1, 5 or 10-user licences.
  • Enterprise — unlimited cameras per project. Contact us for a quote.

FAQ

Does JVSG 2026 work with my Hikvision and HiLook stock?
Yes. The vendor-agnostic database includes the latest Hikvision Pro and HiLook ranges — turrets, bullets, panoramic, fisheye and PTZ — with sensor and lens parameters pre-loaded. Instant camera swap lets you compare two cameras on the same plan without redrawing.

Does it support EN 62676-4:2025?
Yes. JVSG 2026 supports both the original IEC/EN 62676-4:2015 pixel densities and the updated EN 62676-4:2025 standard for DORI zones, plus DHS recommendations.

Is it a subscription or a one-off purchase?
One-off purchase — no recurring fee, no dongle, no time-based expiration. Each licence includes 12 months of maintenance and free upgrades; after that the software keeps working — you only pay again if you want the next year of upgrades.

Will my 2025 licence key activate version 2026?
Yes. Keys purchased in 2025 or 2026 activate version 2026 via Menu › ? › About › Enter New License Key.

Can I run it on a Mac?
Yes — via Parallels Desktop on Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) or Intel Macs. Parallels versions 17 to 26 are tested. There is no native macOS build.

Bottom line

JVSG 2026 is the version most UK installers should standardise on this year. Layered DWG export and rebuilt Word/LibreOffice reports remove the two friction points that previously had designers finishing in something else. New 3D models cover warehouse, retail back-of-house and marina sites that were awkward to model before. Ready to upgrade?
