Wiring, power and PoE: what you need on site

The cabling decision follows the system type. 2-Wire kits run over two non-polarised cores back to the supplied distributor, which handles power and signal — ideal when you are reusing legacy cable. IP kits run over Cat5e/Cat6 with PoE, so the door station and often the indoor station are powered from the switch, and a kit such as the DS-KIS604-P(C) includes that PoE switch.
