Hikvision Firmware Downloads — UK Installer Guide (2026)

This is Netview's central index for Hikvision firmware. Use it to choose the right firmware for your device, understand Hikvision's version numbering, and flash safely via SADP, iVMS-4200, or the device web UI. Historical release notes for specific firmware versions now redirect into this page — if you landed here from one of them, pick the path that matches your device family below.

Before you update — three things to check

  1. Back up the configuration. From the device web UI: Configuration → System → Maintenance → Export Configuration. Store the file safely; a failed flash normally requires a re-flash, but a saved config lets you roll back fast.
  2. Confirm the region. UK installs need EU (English/Multi-language) firmware, not Chinese-market firmware. Flashing the wrong region bricks login for Hik-Connect and voids the EU warranty. Hikvision's EU download portal at hikvisioneurope.com is the safe source.
  3. Match the firmware family to the device model. Never flash IPC firmware onto a DVR, a Turbo HD DVR onto an NVR, and so on. The model suffix tells you the family — see the table below.

Hikvision firmware version numbering

Each product family has its own numbering convention. Reading the version string correctly tells you whether an update is a new feature branch or a bug-fix build.

  • V5.x.x IPC firmware — network (IP) cameras. The major number (5) is the firmware generation; the minor is the feature branch; the build is the bug-fix.
  • V4.x.x DVR / NVR firmware — Turbo HD DVRs and most NVRs. Later major families include V4.30.x, V4.70.x, V4.80.x.
  • V1.x.x AX PRO firmware — the wireless alarm range.
  • V2.x.x / V3.x.x intercom firmware — IP intercom indoor stations and door stations.
  • PTZ firmware — frequently shares the IPC V5 branch for IP PTZs; Turbo PTZs use V5.x.x Turbo builds.

How to check your current firmware

Pick whichever is easiest for the site you're on:

  • Web UI: log in to the camera or NVR, go to Configuration → System → System Settings → Device Information. The firmware version and build date are listed.
  • iVMS-4200: add the device, open Device Management, right-click the device and choose Remote Configuration → System → System Settings.
  • SADP: the SADP tool lists firmware version for every Hikvision device discovered on the LAN. Fastest way to audit an entire site.

How to flash — three supported methods

1. Web UI (single device)

Best for one device at a time, or when you're on-site with a laptop on the same network.

  1. Download the firmware digicap.dav file from the Hikvision EU portal.
  2. Log in to the device web UI.
  3. Configuration → System → Maintenance → Upgrade, select the file and upload.
  4. Wait for the device to reboot — typically 60–120 seconds. Do not power off during the flash.

2. SADP (LAN scan)

Best for multiple devices on the same LAN. SADP finds every Hikvision device and lets you push firmware one-by-one. See the SADP download and how-to guide.

3. iVMS-4200 (bulk)

Best for sites with many devices already under management. The Device Management → Firmware Upgrade tool queues multiple devices for a single firmware push. Full walkthrough in the iVMS-4200 hub.

Common firmware problems and fixes

  • "Verify Failed" during upload — wrong region or wrong product family firmware. Check the filename against the device model.
  • Device unreachable after flash — the IP may have reset to default (192.0.0.64). Use SADP to find it and re-apply the original IP.
  • Lost admin password after update — use SADP's password-reset flow with a code generated from your Hikvision support account.
  • Hik-Connect offline after flash — re-enable under Configuration → Network → Advanced → Platform Access and re-add the verification code.
