Veracity's PINPOINT Wireless solves a common problem and makes POE IP camera installation easy by adding a wireless link near the camera, allowing connection to a smartphone, tablet or laptop for local image display.

Save Time and Money:

Setting up the focus and direction of IP cameras often involves the installer working with a partner in the control room who can see its image. It is a trial and error process, using phone or radio communication to attempt to get a satisfactory image.

Using PINPOINT Wireless however, a single installer can get the camera set up in considerably less time, while being able to configure the camera precisely for the best image possible.

Universal Compatibility:

PINPOINT Wireless is compatible with the IEEE 802.3af POE that is used by most IP cameras, as well as most POE Plus and non-standard types of POE up to 30 watts. An LED indicator confirms that POE is being delivered to the camera.

It is compatible with both 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX Ethernet, and includes wireless connection to a smartphone or tablet

PINPOINT Wireless features automatic camera discovery with wireless live video link to your smart phone or tablet, enabling focusing, adjusting and positioning of IP cameras in-situ. It is powered by the POE delivered to the camera and can be inserted and removed in seconds.

POE-Powered Wireless Adaptor:

Veracity’s PINPOINT Wireless is a POE-powered wireless access point for IP camera installation. It is directly connected to the IP camera and wirelessly connected to the viewing device, tablet or smartphone.

Wireless Network Access:

PINPOINT Wireless is placed in series with the IP camera and, like the camera, is powered by POE. It passes POE through to the IP camera, whilst using less than 2W of the available power and connects the camera to the wireless access point (WAP) built into PINPOINT Wireless. By logging onto this wireless network, live video can be viewed on a smartphone, tablet or laptop. PINPOINT Wireless features automatic camera discovery, including ONVIF. It has a default network SSID with password and an IP address for accessing the device itself. These may be changed as required by the user. The wireless link can be switched between 2.4GHz and 5GHz. A reset function is available to reset the device to default factory settings.

The wireless LED flashes as the unit boots up and is steady when the link is available. The POE port LED shows when the camera is powered, whilst the network port LEDs indicate the wired link speed (10/100) and network activity.

Browser Connection:

Upon connecting to PINPOINT Wireless with a wireless network enabled laptop, tablet or smartphone, through a browser, the user is presented with a web page, allowing configuration of the PINPOINT Wireless itself and showing the IP address of the connected camera. Configuration functionality depends upon the IP camera manufacturer’s supported features and functions. The system firmware can be upgraded in the field to allow updates for new features and special camera types.

CAMPOINT Smart App:

Veracity provide a smart app called CAMPOINT (on iOS and Android) for IP camera configuration. This enables simple wireless viewing of video from one or more IP cameras on a smart phone or tablet. CAMPOINT runs on smart phones and tablets to make IP camera installations simple, fast and convenient to use.

POE Pass Through:

PINPOINT Wireless is designed for IP camera set up in those installations where POE is already available from the POE network switch or mid-span POE injector. POE passes through the PINPOINT Wireless device to the IP camera, with the device itself taking less than 2W of the available power. However, it can pass through up to 60W of POE for those IP cameras which require very high power levels, such as some external IP PTZ cameras.

Connection Procedure:

Connection of PINPOINT Wireless is simple. The network cable to the IP camera is unplugged and then plugged into the “POE In” port of the PINPOINT Wireless device. A second network patch cable is plugged into the “POE Out” port of the device and the other end plugged into the IP camera. The POE will now power both the PINPOINT Wireless device and the IP camera. Note that the PINPOINT device itself will not switch on unless the IP camera is connected. As soon as the camera adjustment has been completed, PINPOINT Wireless can be disconnected and the direct connection to the IP
camera is restored.

What’s in the box ?

The PINPOINT Wireless package contains the main device, a clip-on carry strap, a Quickstart Guide and a very useful protective case for storing the device (in tool kits etc.).

Internal & External Use:

PINPOINT Wireless is designed for internal use but can be also be used externally in dry conditions. Like any network device with standard RJ45 ports, it is important to avoid any water ingress or particulate contamination in the network ports. The supplied protective case can be used for additional protection whilst the device is being used externally.

There are four products in the Veracity IP Camera Installation Tools range. PINPOINT and POINTSOURCE Plus are designed for wired connection to laptops, whilst their wireless variants are designed for wireless network connections.
